In the UK we are very lucky, there are lots of free SQL Training happening all the time. They realise their form in the shape of conferences. There are two excellent free conferences in the UK, namely SQL Bits and SQL Relay. SQL Bits is excellent, many excellent SQL Server professionals have freely donated their time over the years into making this, the goto event in the UK. It’s big, and it’s badder every year! Get yourself along. It used to be twice a year but is now only once a year, it’s held in one place over 4 days or so.
SQL Relay on the other hand tends to be day training in different venues all over the country (Reading, Bristol, Nottingham, London etc.) but they tend to be held in more obscure places but they’re just as good as the SQL Bits sessions. I like the rough and ready style of SQL Relay. SQL Bits is a bit more professional but that’s my own personal preference. Anyways, check it out, they offer DBA, BI and Dev tracks at both events, and I heartily recommend them.
